Pellagra
Pellagra is a vitamin deficiency
disease caused by a lack of vitamin B3, niacin, and
protein.
Symptoms include red/blue skin
lesions, diarrhoea, dermatitis, mental confusion and eventually
demetia.
Pellagra is most common in people
who obtain most of their staple food from corn, which is a poor
source of niacin, which is most common in populations living in
rural areas of South America.
